About the South Simcoe Theatre...

About the South Simcoe TheatreThe South Simcoe Theatre (SST) is a non-profit community-based theatre dedicated to staging professional-quality productions.  SST's vision is to aspire to produce Great Community Theatre.  Its mission is to manage the South Simcoe Theatre in a way that actively recognizes the central role that theatre and arts play in the structure of our society and to initiate innovative ways to improve the quality of life in our community through participation, education and entertainment.

SST's first season was in 1966-67.  Each year, we present a program of contemporary as well as traditional theatre works.  Since September 1983, our home has been the Cookstown Town Hall in Cookstown, Ontario.  By bringing theatre to the community, we hope to not only entertain and delight theatre's traditional audience, but create an entire new generation of theatre patrons.  September 2016 marked 50 years of community theatre by this group.
